Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology
  • Centre of excellence and referral unit for all types of cardiac cases.
  • Over 3500 cardiac catheterization performed each year.
  • Over 7000 admissions per year.
  • Over 1200 cardiac operations (including closed and open heart surgery and coronary by-pass) performed each year.
  • All trainees in Medicine have rotation in AFIC
Armed Forces Institute of Pathology / Nuclear Medical Centre
Referral laboratory of the Armed Forces lab specimens are received from all over the country. More than 600,000 tests are done annually in the departments of Microbiology, Haematology, Chemical Pathology, Histopathology, Dermatopathology, Virology and Immunology. Tissue typing, Thalium Scan and Isotope studies are also done in this laboratory.
Military Hospital
  • Centre of excellence and main referral hospital for medical cases. Patients are received from military hospitals all over the country.
  • Senior specialists are available in the field of Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, Neurology, Pulmonology, Nephrology, Gastro-enterology, Dermatology, Oncology and Psychiatry.
  • Over 35,000 patients are admitted every year.
  • Over 86000 Radiological and Endoscopic examinations are done each year.
Combined Military Hospital
  • Centre of excellence and main referral hospital for surgical patients. Cases are referred to CMHs from all over the country. Federal Ministers and Diplomats also attend this hospital.
  • Over 40,000 major operations performed every year in the field of Orthopaedic, Neurosurgery, Urology, Eye, ENT and Plastic surgery.
  • Over 100,000 Radiological investigations done every year which include a wide range of contrast Radiography e.g. Carotid Angiography, Myelography, Mammography and ERCP. Facilities for CT Scan and Ultrasonography also exist.
  • Linear accelerator is also available in Radiotherapy Dept for Cancer patients.
Armed Forces Institute of Urology
  • Centre of excellence and referral unit for all types of Urology cases.
  • 4 to 5 renal transplants performed each month.
  • Trainees in Surgery and Anaesthesia have rotation in AFIU.
Armed Forces Institute of Dentistry
Biggest referral Dental Complex. Consists of 45 Specialized Dental chairs. More than 50000 dental patients are handled during the year.
Armed Forces Institute of Transfusion
More than 15000 blood donations & more than 60000 Serological tests done per year.

Armed Forces Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine
A new independent Rehabilitation Medicine Centre has been established near Military Hospital Rawalpindi for physiotherapy / rehabilitation of all medically / surgically handicapped cases and to make them useful member of the society.
